We were still rookies when it started out.

Teaching in a classroom, full of doubt.

We learned to see each other, felt the grace.

Slowly growing in a steady  pace.

There and then we sailed away.

Comfort in a colourful bouquet.

 

I’m sure we will be able, for many more years.

Sitting at the table, drifting through our tears.

Telling stupid jokes, playing truth or dare.

Drinking too much liquor, we’ve got souls to bare.

We don’t spell it out, just a silent look.

Or a gentle touch was all it took.

No need to get all gooey  ‘cause in the end.

This is just a simple song for a special friend.

 

We didn’t know what life had in store.

For each of us a rainbow, hope for something more.

We faced our own deep seas of despair.

And realised life just isn’t fair.

But we still sailed away.
